School Hours

C-3

Our school operates from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Supervision is provided for in the playground from 8:30am and until 3:10pm each day.

Children who are not collected from school by 3:10pm are asked wait safely at our main office. We encourage parents and caregivers to ensure children are on time to school to assist them in settling into the day’s work and to develop an understanding that punctuality is important.

Children who arrive after 9:00am are required to visit our front office with their parent to complete a ‘Late Note’.

Alternatively, if you need to pick your child up early from school we ask that parents sign a 'Leave Early' note. These notes are to be handed to your child's class teacher.

School Contributions

Each year families are asked to contribute in voluntary contributions. This money is put towards purchasing resources such as computer software and classroom supplies. Also, throughout the year we provide a range of activities and excursions, which are invoiced to parents. Payments for these activities are made to your child’s class teacher. All monies are required to be placed in an envelope with your child’s name, class and what the money is for, clearly printed on it. If you are experiencing any hardships or difficulties in meeting some of these costs, please do not hesitate in coming to see our principal.

Supporting Individual Needs

im3-8

At Haberfield Public School we aim to facilitate an effective learning environment that supports the individual needs of all of our students. We recognise that the individual needs of children are important factors in their development and overall wellbeing. English as a Second Language (ESL) programs are conducted for students along with Reading Recovery which is an early intervention program to enhance reading and writing achievement.

Workshops

Workshops are offered to our school community in assisting Literacy and Numeracy. We encourage parents to become actively involved in their child’s education and learning. Our workshops aim to help parents work together with teachers to help children succeed in school. We have found that as a result of our workshops, reading and self-esteem levels of our children are greatly enhanced due to extra individual support.
