School Camps

Our school offers Stage 3 children the opportunity to participate in overnight educational camps.

Our school camps enable our students to enjoy new experiences, to socialise with children from other schools, to develop responsibility for the care of their living area and belongings and also to assist with duties associated with the smooth organisation of the camp itself.

Canberra Excursion

ii-13

Year 6 students are offered the opportunity to participate in a camp to Canberra. Year 6 further their studies on Democracy and Government by embarking on this excursion.

Our students learn about the people, processes and institutions that comprise Australia's political system. This includes the origins of democracy, the history of Australia and the rights and responsibilities of Australian citizens.

Our students also learn of the sacrifice of those Australians who have died in war. Students interpret and understand the Australian experience of war and its enduring impact on Australian society.

At this camp we visit many places of great educational value including Parliament House, Electoral Education Centre, National Museum of Australia, National Dinosaur Museum, Governor House, Australian War Memorial, National Exhibition Centre, Australian Institute of Sport and Questacon.

Accommodation is in a centrally located motel with meals supplied.

Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation

Year 5 students are offered the opportunity to participate in a three-day camp to the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation. Located on the shores of Narrabeen lakes on the Northern beaches of Sydney, the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation provides camps that are packed full of fun and adventure.

Set activities for this camp include abseiling, archery, bushwalking, kayaking and rock climbing. All meals are prepared on site by qualified catering staff. Care is taken to ensure food is tasty, nutritious and plentiful.

Another part of the ideology of being on camp is that the children are completely focused on teambuilding, personal development and their various tasks with minimum distractions from the “outside world”. The primary program at Narrabeen promotes active and healthy lifestyles, introduces students to outdoor and environmental education, and is adaptable to suit each group’s needs.
